A Really Blunt Orientation
[Well. Someone sure did draw the short straw and have to do orientations for the new students. Several times during the next few weeks as new students arrive, strange entities of assorted shapes and weirdness, such as one without a mouth and with three noses, all in suits, will be ushering those new students into an assembly hall. At the podium at the front is a paper-white woman with red eyes, wearing a black suit with red shirt and black tie.]
Well. You're probably all wondering "Where the hell am I and why am I here?" To put it simply, you fucked up. Some of you'll have a good idea of what I'm talking about, especially the ones who died an untimely death. And I'm speaking literally when I say "untimely"--you weren't supposed to die. But that's what this school's here to help you with. We'll help you do better so you don't die or whatever other failure you suffered. Really, I prefer those sorts of students--they tend to be more cooperative. The others... well, you did something you weren't supposed to, or were about to. Yeah, that's right, that was the wrong thing to do. We're going to teach you not to do that thing. If you don't learn, well, you're stuck here until you do. You probably think it was the right thing, but it wasn't. Suck it up.
As for where this is, this is Hero High, a school for those that fell short in fulfilling their destines. I'm Deimonea, Professor of Art, Subtle Tactics, and Assorted Studies, and I'll be teaching some of you in courses like Art, Subtle Tactics, and my favorite, Fear Resistance. There're other teachers and other faculty here as well, as well as other students like you. The school's in Hero City.
I don't like making those speeches too long and you probably don't want to hear a long speech, so I'll cut it short. Here, have some pamphlets. I'm going to do the school-mandated question time, but first read those pamphlets. They'll answer many of your questions so I don't have to.
[The suited minions hand out pamphlets detailing the basics of the school, its rules, where to find class schedules, campus faculties and map, a very basic map of the city with landmarks, stuff like that. When everyone's gotten a chance to read theirs, Deimonea speaks up again.]
